THE PHOTO:
Continuing the baby-theme from the birth of our baby daughter (2 months ago - ZOMG), here's a close-up of her hypnotic cradle/swing named "My Little Lamb", taken while she was in blissful sleep below.

POST PROCESSING:
Minor tweaks to lights/darks in Lightroom, some spot removal and clean-up, curves, vignette, sharpening and noise reduction. Duplicated layer with gaussian blur set at reduced opacity.

THE PHOTO:
YOTN refers to "Year of the Nappy". While this picture isn't technically of nappies (they're changing cloths), it's representative of the reason why there's been little opportunity to take and post photos.

Rectangular vignette, crop, auto-contrast, dodge/burn (on in-focus subject to provide greater clarity), sharpen.

At the end of 2002, after a couple of years dabbling on the internet (beginning with Yahoo! GeoCities in 1999), I wanted to retire my old domain name ten-zero.net (for obvious/not-so-obvious reasons) and move to a single-word dot com. I practically went through half the dictionary looking for a relatable word that was available and stumbled across "seriocomic".(...)

Grasp on Life

THE PHOTO:
Well, it's been 1 week (at the time of posting) since baby was born. It seems that a time-warp factor is part of parenthood!

Sadly, despite having the camera at the ready, all photos have been "happy snaps" (and iPhone shots) and hardly anything photogenic enough (the shot, not the subject) to post here, so tonight I made a special effort.

POST PROCESSING:
Crop, sharpen, noise-reduction (ISO was very high in non-ideal lighting), light balance, slight vignette, more sharpen.

9 Months

THE PHOTO:
I rarely post personal-type photos, but this one was done with consent (and modesty was maintained if you were wondering).

We're due on the 26th (Australia Day), but we'll see if 'she' is like her mother and wants to sleep in, or like me and get out and get started...

I hope this isn't the start of a trend of baby-type photos, but I can imagine that it won't be the last.

POST PROCESSING:
This was shot in really low light without any key-lighting (as I had planned), so it's not tack-sharp, but I kind of like that. It was cropped tight, vignette, black & white filter, and duplicated with a soft-light blend with Gaussian blue (a technique I got from Chromasia way back in 2003)

Startling

We're not sure how effective these are, but the faux-cat silhouette garden ornaments are meant to keep unwanted fauna from the garden. I think humans are more startled than any birds, possums or other cats...
